Today this 10-acre green space features lovely, tree-lined walking trails, playgrounds, an outdoor fitness area, and iconic chess tables. Summer brings the Armory Farmers’ Market to the park, delighting residents every Thursday afternoon with organic vegetables, locally sourced ingredients, artisan cheeses, and freshly baked bread and pastries. Spend a leisurely morning exploring the trails with the family dog or bring a picnic and enjoy the summer concert series.

Nearby sits the imposing Cranston Street Armory, which has a rich history dating back to its creation in 1907. This yellow-brick structure is one of Providence’s most impressive, and while it began as a fortress designed to exert some measure of control over the masses, this castle soon became the scene of social events and city celebration, delighting generations of residents for almost a century.
