Nearby sits the imposing Cranston Street Armory, which has a rich history dating back to its creation in 1907. This yellow-brick structure is one of Providence’s most impressive, and while it began as a fortress designed to exert some measure of control over the masses, this castle soon became the scene of social events and city celebration, delighting generations of residents for almost a century.
