With a strong vintage vibe and a highly walkable layout, Fox Point takes the creative reins with an eclectic lineup of shops, trendy bistros, and upbeat destinations. Once a vast expanse of farmland, Fox Point reinvented itself into a maritime destination back in 1680, when Providence’s first port was built at India Point. This historic town then became a major trading point until the Boston and Providence Railroad arrived, bringing with it a new wave of residents and industry. This waterfront neighborhood is now known for hip boutiques, a diverse culinary scene, and stunning views of the Providence Harbor and Seekonk River.

The ever-cool Fox Point treats its residents to a stylish culinary scene, complete with artisan fare and sumptuous delicacies. The laid-back, counter-serve Tallulah's Taqueria invites guests to indulge in classic Mexican fare while also jumping in on the culinary action with build-your-own burritos, tacos, and bowls. Brighten up your day with decadent, brioche-style donuts from PVDonuts, Providence’s first specialty donut shop. Serving coffee and gourmet confections made with local ingredients, this sweet cafe offers a rotating menu of creative flavors, as well as nitro brew and locally roasted coffee beans. Upscale ristorante Al Forno adds local touches to grilled pizzas, pasta, and wood-fired dishes and elevates classic salads and pizzas to works of art.

The locally sourced, seasonal menu at The East End is influenced by the real star of the show, the artisan bar. This relaxed bistro showcases creative, elevated American gastropub fare, like miso French onion soup, grilled Brussels sprouts, and gourmet cheese boards, as well as stunning elixirs like Love At First Sting, made with Four Roses bourbon, coconut cream, vanilla, ginger, cayenne, and cinnamon.

Things to Do

Cherished for its sweeping views of the Providence Harbor and the Seekonk River, India Point Park was conceived in 1974, when environmentalist Mary Elizabeth Sharpe worked with the city to create a beautiful green space for the community to enjoy. Home to the annual 4th of July fireworks display, this lovely park also hosts concerts and celebrations throughout the summer, like the Reggae Festival and the RI Seafood Festival. You can even catch a ferry to nearby Newport. The lovely Tockwotton Park offers grassy knolls and a serene setting for afternoon picnics and evening strolls.
